McCullough & Company

A bookkeeping, tax, and advisory practice in West, Texas. The site puts the whole practice on one page — who it’s for, what each service covers, and what happens after you reach out — and books the first consultation without a phone call.

The Client

J.D. already had the clients.

He runs a bookkeeping, tax, and advisory practice in Waco — small businesses, farmers and ranchers, independent contractors, sole proprietors, couples, individuals. The work was already happening and had been for a while. It came in by word of mouth and printed hand-outs, one conversation at a time.

What he didn’t have was anywhere to send someone afterwards.

The Problem

A referral only gets you as far as the search.

Someone recommends J.D., the person looks him up, and finds nothing. He told me prospects were put off by it — not by anything about his work, but by the absence of it. The referral had done its job and then lost its force at exactly the moment somebody was deciding. Two things had to change: a stranger had to be able to see what he does and satisfy themselves he’s real, and then book him without waiting on a callback.

The Work

Somewhere to send them.

A site that answers the questions a prospect would otherwise have to ring up and ask, and ends in a booked time rather than a message in an inbox.

What He Got

A marketing site with one job.

Sort the visitor, answer what they’d otherwise ring up to ask, take the appointment.

01

Books the appointment

Every button opens a scheduler rather than a contact form, so a visitor picks a time and it’s confirmed — no phone tag, nothing waiting on a reply, nothing going stale in an inbox while a warm referral cools off.

02

Answers the questions first

Six audiences named, four service areas that open in full on a tap, and four questions at the foot of the page with pricing among them.

03

Reads on the phone it arrives on

One column, a header that folds to a menu button and a tap-to-call number, and the same page for keyboard and screen-reader visitors.

04

Costs nothing to keep

Written by hand, so there is no plugin surface to patch, no framework to migrate off and no monthly licence — including the hero footage, licensed and credited.
